At the recently held 2025 New Quality Productivity Development Forum for Automobiles, Pei Feng, the CEO of Guangzhou Juwan Technology Research Co., LTD., said in an interview that the next five years will become a development hotspot for ultra-fast charging of electric vehicles, and more and more enterprises will join this race. At present, the ultra-fast charging batteries of Juwan Technology Research have basically achieved full coverage of various scenarios, including new energy vehicles, heavy-duty trucks and other commercial vehicles, eVTOL, electric ships, etc. The following is the interview transcript

Host: As the penetration rate of new energy vehicles continues to rise, various regions are also accelerating the construction of charging infrastructure. What do you think of the prospects of ultra-fast charging in this process?
Pei Feng:If the issue of charging could be as fast as refueling, then charging stations would be as convenient as gas stations. We believe that ultra-fast charging is the most fundamental issue at the bottom to address users' range anxiety pain points. So it must be a necessity. We also predict that in the next five years, ultra-fast charging will be a trend and develop rapidly. It has even become a standard feature. We have been engaged in the research and development of ultra-fast charging battery technology since 2014. In 2022, the charging time from 0 to 80% at our mass production level can reach 7.5 minutes. In the future, ultra-fast charging should be a trend in the industry. More and more enterprises should join this large group. In fact, our product range also covers everything from the most advanced performance to less advanced performance. For instance, for our 0-80% charging range, from 5.5 minutes to 7.5 minutes, to 10 minutes to 12 minutes to 15 minutes, we have a full range of coverage. Its cost is also gradually decreasing. At the same time, our price cannot be too high, so as to meet the premise of commercialization. What users like most is good but not expensive. In this regard, a relatively complete layout must also be made.

Host: What do you think is the market prospect of ultra-fast charging in the commercial vehicle sector?
Pei Feng:Ultra-fast charging batteries have basically covered all scenarios, including new energy vehicles, which include both plug-in and pure electric ones. We have also produced heavy-duty trucks, aircraft, eVOLT, and even ships and electric motorcycles. Currently, the proportion of ultra-fast charging in heavy-duty cards is actually exactly the same as that of battery swapping, with one increasing and the other decreasing. The proportion of fast battery swapping is gradually decreasing now, while the ultra-fast charging route is on the rise. Once the calculation shows that charging has an advantage, it instantly starts to switch to charging. We are currently going through such a stage.

Host: This year, we continue to promote the use of new energy vehicles in rural areas. In your opinion, what opportunities will these policy supports bring to our business development in the future?
Pei Feng:Now we are experiencing the boom of ultra-fast charging. I believe this year marks the first year of ultra-fast charging and also a spring of its explosive growth. Ultra-fast charging also requires policy promotion, including encouragement and cultivation for the establishment of ultra-fast charging stations, as well as guidance for users to purchase electric vehicles with ultra-fast charging batteries. I think all these policy guidance are very necessary.
